This page compares it against Masto Control. We make one of the two, so read the table rather than the adjectives: every figure below is taken from the other company’s own published pages, dated, and linked. It includes the rows where Stocksmith is the better product.
Stocksmith charges a flat fee with unlimited users. Masto Control charges a base fee plus €12 per extra user. One to four people: Masto Control is cheaper. Five or six and up: Stocksmith is, and we would rather you knew that now.
Stocksmith publishes six: Shopify, WooCommerce, Etsy, Square, Faire and Amazon, plus QuickBooks. Masto Control connects to Etsy. If you sell in several places at once, that gap is the whole decision and nothing else on this page will close it.
Stocksmith values inventory at weighted average cost. Masto Control consumes batches first-in-first-out at the price actually paid for each one. IAS 2 permits both. They give different answers as soon as your supplier prices move.
Stocksmith prices in US dollars, Masto Control in euro excluding VAT, which Paddle adds at checkout by your country. We have not converted between the two, because the rate moves and a converted figure would go stale faster than the page.

Both offer a 14-day free trial with no credit card. The comparison that matters for a solo maker is €30 against $99: batch and lot tracking is included in the Masto Control base plan, and on Stocksmith it starts on Indie. The comparison that matters for a team of six is €90 against $99 flat, at which point the flat plan wins and keeps winning as you hire.
“Not published” means we could not verify it on their site, not that the feature is missing. We only list what a vendor states in public. Where Stocksmith documents something we do not have, the table says so plainly.

Unlimited users at a flat price beats €12 a head from about the fifth or sixth person onwards, and the gap only widens after that.
We have none of the three. If two-factor authentication is a requirement of your business or your insurer, that is a hard stop on us today, and we would rather say so here than at the end of your trial.
They have been trading since 2013, with thousands of customers and a long published review record. We launched in 2026. If you are risk-averse about who is still here in five years, weigh that properly.
Batch and lot tracking with expiry dates is in our €30 base plan. On Stocksmith it begins on Indie. For a solo cosmetics or food maker who needs lot traceability by law rather than by preference, that is the entire argument.
FIFO at real batch cost tells you what the units you just made actually cost. A weighted average smooths that, which is legitimate accounting and less useful when you are setting today’s price against a delivery that arrived last week.
A loss coefficient on each recipe line, and recipe versions that lock once used in production so last season’s costs stay true. Neither is published by Stocksmith.
A Finnish company, euro billing with VAT handled at checkout, a GDPR data processing agreement on the site, and six interface languages. No currency conversion on every invoice.
Yes, under a different name. Craftybase was renamed Stocksmith on 1 July 2026. It is the same company and the same software: Stocksmith Pty Ltd has been the legal entity since 2013, and the product brand was changed to match it. craftybase.com now redirects to stocksmith.io. Two things decide it in practice. First, inventory costing: Stocksmith values inventory at weighted average cost, while Masto Control consumes material batches first-in-first-out at the price actually paid for each batch. Both are permitted under IAS 2, but they give different unit costs as soon as your supplier prices move. Second, price shape: Stocksmith charges a flat fee with unlimited users, while Masto Control charges a base fee plus a per-user fee, which is cheaper for one to four people and more expensive for a larger team.
It depends on team size and on whether you need batch tracking. Masto Control is €30 a month, or €25 billed annually, for one user with batch tracking included. Stocksmith lists Pro at $20 for a single sales channel at very low volume, Studio at $49, and Indie at $99, which is the first plan that includes batch and lot tracking. For a solo maker who needs batch-level costing, Masto Control is the cheaper of the two. From about five or six users, Stocksmith works out cheaper, because Masto Control adds €12 for each extra user.

Yes, on every plan. Each material purchase forms its own batch carrying its purchase price, purchase date and expiry date, and production consumes the oldest batch first at that batch’s real cost. Stocksmith also records lot numbers and expiry dates, but its batch and lot tracking begins on the Indie plan at $99 a month.
No QuickBooks or accounting sync. No Shopify, WooCommerce, Square, Faire or Amazon connection. No two-factor authentication. No public API. No CSV import, Excel only. No multi-currency. No customer records. No production scheduling. No time tracking - labour is costed from an hourly rate and the minutes you put on the card, but nothing times the work for you.
Materials import from Excel. Recipes and production history do not import automatically today, so a move means rebuilding your product cards. For a maker with twenty products that is an evening; for one with four hundred it is a project, and worth asking us about before you start a trial.
